Our Medical Readiness and Response Group specializes in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) medical and public health preparedness for military and government clients. The purpose of this position is to assist clients to achieve effective medical, public health and senior leader preparedness for CBRNE agent hazards, toxic industrial chemicals, emerging diseases and other hazards impacting mission requirements. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. This full time position is located in Hampton, VA. Travel to various client locations around the world will be required on an as-needed basis. A full benefits package will be provided. Relocation support is not available. Position Summary Project Support: Assist in planning and executing projects from inception to completion utilizing good business practices and Battelle guidelines and resources to provide quality products within task scope, resources and timelines in the technology areas of: Homeland Security and Force Health Protection (HSFHP) support in defense against Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) hazards to the following clients (in order of priority): (a) US military and civilian personnel and facilities; (b) other potential Defense Sector clients; and (c) civilian clients. Other Battelle focus areas involved in Homeland Security; Force Health Protection; Military Public Health/Preventive Medicine; Health Promotion/Health Education; and Medical Nuclear, Biological, Chemical and Environmental (NBC-E) defense. Assist in the overall coordination and development of customer focused products for the Medical Readiness and Response Group. Facilitation and Instruction: Develop, instruct and facilitate technical seminars, workshops and discussion groups; tabletop exercises; and technical skills training in the areas of CBRNE response planning for medical facilities. Business Development: Develop and execute new business opportunities in the technology areas listed in the Project Support paragraph above. Develop marketing presentations focused on client needs and Battelle capabilities; establish strategic relationships with key client managers and coordinate activities with appropriate Battelle business development staff. Consultation and Coordination: Assist other Battelle elements provide quality products by developing an understanding of the greater Battelle capability, directing tasks for execution within Battelle to best support the client, and participating in matrixed staff support for project execution across the National Security business area. Required Qualifications A. Education: Bachelors degree with coursework in public health, preventive medicine, emergency management, or related health science area. B. Experience: Knowledge and experience in military medicine, basic knowledge of Emergency Medical Systems (EMS). At least 5 years experience providing medical readiness training. Knowledge of federal and military response plans for domestic terrorism utilizing weapons of mass destruction, to include effective risk evaluation/communication skills. Knowledge of Force Protection/CBRNE defense principles in an operational theater/ homeland security environment. Experience in the science and application of operational preventive medicine to include environmental health, industrial hygiene, medical entomology, and epidemiology. Experience in successful supervision and management of professional staff. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Skill as a facilitator for diverse groups in workshop settings involving differing perspectives and interests. Ability to use web-based software and basic word processing, presentation and spreadsheet programs. Secret security clearance eligible. Preferred Qualifications At least 15 years of active duty US military experience working in operational preventive medicine or medical operations; 5 of those years in force health protection support of the DOD personnel. Experience in analyzing doctrine, organizations, leadership, materiel, and manpower requirements in CBRN operations. Proficient in training course development, student testing, and extensive experience in classroom and field instruction, management of training. Secret security clearance.
