The International Technology Assessments Product Line at Battelle's Charlottesville Operations is seeking a chemist fluent in Chinese to provide worldwide open source literature surveys and analysis on topics related to chemical warfare defense . This is not a lab-related position. The selected scientist will be responsible for monitoring, reading, and summarizing the current state-of-the-art research in specified areas of chemistry and biochemistry in both English and Chinese. The applicant should be well-versed in analyzing reactions and possess the skills necessary to apply that knowledge to new technologies. Further, the incumbent will be expected to translate technical Chinese text and apply the translations to project analysis requirements. The candidate may also be required to provide technical leadership to a team of scientists with the responsibility of providing solutions to a wide variety of technological problems. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry - US Citizenship - Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance - Ability to formulate hypotheses about and convey solutions to highly technical problems. - Skills in searching, collecting and analyzing scientific literature in English and Chinese. - Ability to translate technical Chinese into English. - Good organizational skills and attention to details. - Willingness to work in small groups and lead tasks as necessary. - Demonstrated technical writing skills, shown by articles published in technical journals, reports, theses, etc. Desired Qualifications: - Master's degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry - DoD sponsored TS//SCI clearance - Wiki authoring experience. - Training in organic chemistry, biochemistry and toxicology. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with government scientists Battelle is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer.
