Composite Tool Maker

Job Description:

Assist in the fabrication and assembly of composite parts and tools using epoxy resins, pre-preg material, graphite, fiberglass, structural adhesives, tooling foams, tooling boards (solid and honeycomb) and other various materials. Assist in the development of prototype molds and jigs. Assist in the fabrication of composite and metal trim & drill fixtures per blueprints. With direction sets up and operates micrometers, height gages, calipers. May assist in the layout and measuring of patterns on polystyrene and polyurethane foams. Apply sealers, releases, base coats and finish coats using various spray equipment. Assist in the set up and operation of metal working machine tools such as saws, drills, lathes, mills planners, belt & desk sanders, grinders, drill press, and welding equipment. Fabricates machine parts to specifications of tooling requirements.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Typically requires High School diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of composite pre-preg materials and epoxy resin systems is desired. Must be able to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions; familiar with blueprints and other similar drawings and documents; capable of doing simple mathematical calculations; and familiar with a variety of machinist hand tools and measuring instruments. Must be able to become certified to wear a respirator; able to work in a loud environment; work extended hours as required; and be able to lift tools and assemblies weighing up to 60 lbs.

Desirable Qualifications:

 

Ability to logically plan work steps needed to complete a variety of assemblies. No known allergies to epoxy agents. Skilled with hand tools (saws, grinders, routers, drills) 

Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Other duties as assigned or required.
