Computer Programmer II

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Performs computer-programming tasks for the Red Flag Debriefing and Automated Data Processing Equipment Contract.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Modifies and maintains Real-Time Collection Program – NACTS real-time loader (Microsoft C++)

 

Develops and maintains routine computer programs and databases. May write routine new programs or databases using prescribed specifications. Uses COTS (Commercial‑off‑the-­shelf) software when possible. Applies relational database design principles.

 

Monitors the operation of assigned computer programs and databases and responds to problems by troubleshooting errors in logic and coding.

 

Evaluates simple interrelationships in the existing computer programs. Determines whether a contemplated change in one part of a simple program would cause unwanted results in a related part.

 

Assess database requirements and recommend hardware/software upgrades to meet future needs.

 

Provides software documentation to a level that allows the software to be maintained and modified by United States government or other contractor personnel.

 

 OTHER RELATED DUTIES:

 

Performs other related duties as required to include data entry, data retrieval, archiving.

 

Operate, maintain and troubleshoot NACTS Real Time Loader.

 

EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE):

 

At least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related discipline.

 

At least three years programming experience with one or more of the following languages: C, C++, ADA.

 

At least three years experience with software design/development teams in a top‑down structured environment.

 

At least one year of experience with Microsoft Windows NT/Office/Access/Visual Basic/SQL/Web applications.

 

At least one year of experience with relational database management systems such as Ingress or Oracle.

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with co‑workers and with those contacted while performing required duties.

 

Ability to apply technical skills and knowledge to practical situations in the performance of daily tasks.

 

Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully.

 

Ability to operate desktop computers to input and retrieve data accurately.

 

Knowledge of microcomputers and networks.

 

Knowledge of computer security standards and procedures.

 

Good overall command of English and knowledge of formatting and style used in technical reports.
