Computing Architect 3 Position Description The Commercial Aviation Services (CAS) Global IT Performance team which is responsible for the IT relationship with the Airline customers is looking for an innovative, experienced computing architect who can develop and implement solutions to improve the availability and performance of Boeing systems utilized by the CAS customers. The successful candidate will lead the team that researches, design, constructs and deploys solutions for system monitoring, system performance, and improving the design and development approaches used by systems. Responsibilities include evolving the existing strategy and project roadmap, planning, budgeting, executing, and communicating to a variety of Boeing stakeholders. Foster working relationships within the CAS business unit to identify and resolve performance and availability issues with common services and technology. Collaborate with Computing and Network Operations (CNO) to synchronize strategies, roadmaps and execute projects. Represent CAS on an enterprise-wide technical team addressing problems inhibiting company ability to become more global. Act as technical subject matter expert on CAS Monitoring Steering Committee defining future direction and standards. Function as product manager of an existing service, evolving the strategy and roadmap and communicating the necessary stakeholders. Experience designing, building or analyzing the behavior of web-based applications. Understanding of TCP, HTTP, HTTPS, reverse proxies, Internet infrastructure, and the end-to-end architecture of delivering data via the Internet to a client. Knowledge of CNO organizational responsibilities and experience working across organizations to achieve goals. Experience with system monitoring and testing tools such as HP/Mercury desired. Experience with enterprise content delivery networks preferred. Ability to address system aspects of requirements, alternative solution definition and selection, design, and process. Experience executing product evaluations (request for proposal). Knowledge of CAS desired. Experience using Macroscope process framework. Knowledge of different project lifecycles (waterfall, agile, etc). Includes fellow work group members, employees across the organization, and occasionally external customers in the decision-making process as warranted to obtain good information, make the most appropriate decisions, and ensure buy-in and understanding of the resulting decisions.Technical [ + ] Delivery Systems Architecture Complete ability to model and analyze data from a computing technical and total IT viewpoint, and integrate into an overall computing system and network architecture. Develops hardware and software architectures and programs that link hardware and platforms in a Network Centric environment. Complete knowledge of Network Engineering (global, Wireless, MPLS, Connections, Sat), Infrastructure Security (Access, Identification, anti-hacker, visitor net) and Collaboration technologies and Messaging to drive NCO and Virtual work place for the next decade. [ + ] Identify IT Expertise Complete knowledge of different IT disciplines (e.g., infrastructure, information, application, security, system management, system integration).. [ + ] Project Leadership Complete ability to accept, direct, and perform responsibilities and work assigned tasks as a project team member in support of the overall project. Complete ability to lead and direct the activities and resources of assigned projects and support higher graded employees in large scale and complex projects. [ + ] Systems Design Engr Principles Complete knowledge of systems design and scientific principles to develop, design, analyze, test, and validate solutions for complex systems and sub-systems. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree and typically 5 to 8 years' related work experience or a Master's degree with 3 to 6 years' or a PhD degree with 0 to 3 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
