Job Description

Andrews Space is looking for a strong financial leader with experience in managing staff, budget development & analysis, financial modeling, and experience in a fast-paced environment. This position contributes to the overall mission of the Company by managing and overseeing all aspects of financial operations.  We want a team player who works closely with executive leadership and handles the following:Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions to include hands-on daily processing Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business resultsProvide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the leadership team in performing their responsibilitiesAssure the integrity and security of financial systems and processes; the proper and responsible handling of all funds, and compliance with legal, regulatory and organizational financial and contract reporting requirementsImprove the budgeting process through education of project team leads and department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets. Enhance and/or develop and implement reporting to enhance management information systems of the corporationEnhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies, procedures and financial systems of the organization to maintain the overall operation and effectiveness of the finance department and the companyArrange and prepare for audits as well as any other requested or required financial reviewsEvaluate the finance department structure and team; plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the department as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individualsOversee insurance and risk managementDevelop reporting and communication necessary for board, management, and other stakeholder presentations

Skills Required

 Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, especially relating to government funded programsSkill in communicating technical, financial, and analytical informationAbility to prepare and analyze comprehensive financial documents; carry out assigned projects to their completionAbility to provide leadership, innovation, motivation and constructive performance reviews to staff, securing their respective commitments to the department's goalsA well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player. An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organizationA decisive individual who possesses a "big picture" mission perspective, is well versed in systems and can appropriately understand and manage the financial and mission trade-offs to make appropriate recommendations and decisions

Accountability

 Completion of annual audit with no material findingsEstablishment and maintenance of effective financial accounting systemsAppropriate staff routinely receive budget variance and analysis reportsOperations plan is in place and routinely updatedInternal business processes are documented, periodically analyzed and enhancedBroad knowledge of the Company’s mission, vision, strategic direction, goals, objectives; policies, procedures, priorities and departmental operations

AuthorityManages accounting staff, enforces company standards and polices.

Required QualificationsMust be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident Alien

Desired QualificationsMasters degree in finance, accounting, business administration or equivalent, and seven years progressively responsible accounting and analysis experience; or bachelors degree and ten years progressively responsible related experience; or other equivalent combination of education and experience. Being a CPA and experience with FAR’s and government billing procedures is considered a plus.
