The Database Administrator provides technical expertise in the implementation and operational support of database environments and data services within the Corporate IT Department.

Responsibilities will include:Installs, upgrades, configures & patches Oracle and SQLServer environments to achieve optimum system performance, scaleability and manageability.Provides technical support in response to database or data services requests to the Corporate IT Helpdesk.Provides technical expertise to business analysts and IT support team members in the analysis and evaluation of proposed technology solutions.Ensures continuity of operation for the database environments by safeguarding business and application data; implements and maintains enterprise backup/recovery standards and processes.Participates in the design, implementation and testing of the enterprise Disaster Recovery Plan for all database environments and platforms.Manages user account & security administration for all database environments, and ensures compliance with all corporate security policies.Maintains documentation in conformity with corporate standards and best practices for all database environments and configuration change management activites. Provides ancillary Unix Administration support as requested. Required Skills

Professional/technical expertise -- Technical expertise in enterprise database environments. Strong knowledge of database design, installation, configuration, upgrades, backup and recovery, SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning, security, and networking.Organization and Accomplishment of Work -- Plans, prioritizes, completes work efficiently and effectively; highly organized with the ability to work independently; strong attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple, complex projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.Communication -- Manages effective flow of information while demonstrating superior verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of computer users.  Must possess good process documentation skills and willingness to share knowledge with other IT team members.Customer Focus -- Demonstrates a sense of urgency when working with both internal and external customers; available and responsive to customers’ needs and continuously seeks opportunities to satisfy customers’ expectations. Collaboration -- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.Judgment: Identifies and determines appropriate diagnoses/definitions of problems, assesses risks;  possesses excellent analytical and problem solving skills.Required Experience

Minimum 3 years DBA experience in a SQLServer 2000/2005 environment required; experience on both Oracle and SQLServer platforms strongly preferred. Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint, Analysis and Reporting Services preferred. DBA experience in a Unix (Solaris) environment preferred. SQL expertise required. Expertise in writing/maintaining stored procedures (PL/SQL and/or T-SQL) preferred. Knowledge of Oracle Application Server, Enterprise Manager Grid Control, RMan and Veritas backup systems preferred. Experience with SAP Basis Administration a plus. A degree from a college or university in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field preferred. Formal Oracle or Microsoft DBA certification preferred.
