Database Specialist/Administrator
Self Starter that takes responsibility for projects and provides documentation and status of same Must be willing to work in an ever changing environment with multiple disciplines in engineering, manufacturing and general business practices. Assists in design, administration and support of Oracle databases, including Oracle Administration for Oracle 7.3 – 10g Database Management systems Implements database changes and identify issues proactively to prevent outages Report design and maintenance using Crystal Reports Assists with the design, implementation, documentation and monitoring of database backup/recovery procedures. Works with database and application software vendors to resolve technical issues and plan for future enhancements. Creates clear documentation of operating procedures, database object layout, work flow diagrams and specifications for developed databases. Development of intranet web applications from start to finish using Oracle Application Express. Works with users to create functional specification document. Creates technical specification documents. Designs and creates normalized database tables, APEX pages, APEX authorization schemes, etc. Helpdesk functions, software and hardware maintenance. Diagnose and resolve user problems by personally communicating with the user and asking in-depth, fact gathering questions. Be the person to call if the user needs the problem resolved quickly and correctly. Be able and motivated to document standards, new technology, and projects. Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to troubleshoot problems in person, over the phone, or via email. Able to work in a small team environment Willing to work on call in addition to regular shift.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences or Business Administration/Management preferred. Must possess excellent communications skills: listening, written and verbal with presentation. Must have experience with general desktop applications such as MS word, Outlook etc. Must have experience with MS Visio or other comparable flow charting software. Ability to handle multiple projects and multiple deadlines with changing priorities Experience in Oracle 8i, 9i, and / or 10g database administration. Experience in hot/cold backup mechanisms; Oracle RMAN experience. Experience with installation and patching of Oracle server, client and application software. Experience with writing PL/SQL scripts, procedures, packages. Experience with or willing to learn Oracle Application Express / APEX (HTMLDB). Experience with Crystal Reports 9 or later. Experience with performing root cause analysis of problems and provide solutions Experience working with and have an understanding of, networking, operating systems, hardware, monitoring, various computer languages, etc Some skills in OS (Linux, HPUX, Windows).
