Dept Mgr Mission Systems Integration

LOCATION: EL SEGUNDO, CA 90245 Job Description: Position will manage the Mission Systems Integraion (MSI) Department. This department provides systems engineering expertise to support all MSI programs across SAS. The d epartment manager is responsible for building the engineering organization, especially system engineering, for the new Mission System Integration Business Area. Work with the BACE (Business Area Chief Engineer) as the accountable authority for review and audit of all engineering gates, designs, and cost estimating as defined in IPDS. In the MSI organization, this includes numerous business pursuits for both US and foreign customers. Responsible for staffing of MSI programs and managing Section Manager staff members in both Texas and California. Accountable for reporting of all MSI programs financial and technical status, ensuring development of work product plans, and resolving issues. The Department Manager will be engaged with the various businesses / PEOs to ensure that all aspects of hardware development are addressed. This includes being involved in gate reviews, proposal development, and various design reviews. Program responsibilities also include the following: development/management of system requirements, execution of trade studies, interface definition/management, design integration, verification/test planning, and integration. Basic Qualifications/Required Skills: · 12+ years in engineering, including leadership roles. Candidate must have a broad engineering skill set and experience with development and delivery of large scale integrated systems. · Working knowledge of bidding process and proposal development. · Working knowledge of EVMS, IMS, & IMP tools for managing programs. · Strong written and oral communication skills. · Strong judgment and decision making abilities. · Able to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities. · Excellent follow through and persistence. · Strong advocate for process improvement (e.g. CMMI and R6s). Required Education(including Major): BS in Math, Science or Engineering discipline.
