Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAWW) is the largest operator of B747 cargo aircraft in the world and the third largest cargo airline, behind FedEx and UPS. Polar provides scheduled cargo services to the world’s largest freight forwarders. It operates airport-to-airport, specific routes on a specific schedule, and customers pay to have their freight carried on that route and schedule. Polar’s scheduled, all-cargo network serves five principal economic regions: North America, South America, Asia, the Far East and Europe.

 

Polar is owned 51% by AAWW with a 49% stake acquired in 2007 by DHL, a global leader in the provision of Express distribution services. A blocked space agreement (“BSA”) between Polar and DHL becomes effective in 2008, whereby Polar will service key lanes of the DHL Express network.

 

Both Atlas and Polar also operate air freight charter flights for commercial customers as well as for the U.S. Air Force’s Air Mobility Command.

 

Polar is currently seeking a Director of Sales for its JFK International Airport location.

 

Position Summary:  Responsible for all aspects of Polar Air Cargo scheduled service Sales and Marketing in Northeast USA.

 

Major Job Accountabilities:

§  Improve SS average revenue by flight

§  Improve cost of sales to achieve but not exceed the maximize unit sales cost as percentage operation revenue

§  Improve customer relationships by meeting monthly with Top 10 and P3 customers

§  Develop Asia market through launch and build of new JFK-HKG flights

§  Improve SS main causal Sales and Marketing departure reliability

 

Qualifications: 

§  Degree preferred

§  Eight to ten years experience

§  Must be well suited for an entrepreneurial environment which is extremely fast paced with high rates of growth

§  Ability to lead and interact with the senior levels of the organization

§  Comfortable in rolling up his/her sleeves in a lean environment where limited structure and policy currently exist

§  Strong team, interpersonal and communication skills

§  Ability to be supportive and mentally tough
