Director of Staffing

The Aerospace Corporation, established in 1960, is a private, nonprofit corporation that operats an FFRDC sponsored by the United States Air Force, providing objective technical analyses and assessments for space programs that serve the national interest. As the FFRDC for national-security space, Aerospace supports long-term planning and the immediate needs of our nation's military and reconnaissance space programs.

DESCRIPTION

Directs activities of department staff and directs activities relating to the employment and staffing process including recruitment, screening, selection, placement, and staffing of candidates and transfers, promotions, and terminations of employees. Provides management with information regarding employment trends and projections of staffing patterns. Interacts and engages with Executive Management to determine corporate hiring needs. Develops and administers staffing strategies and programs supporting corporate mission and goals. Plans and directs employment and recruiting activities and programs to meet corporate staffing requirements. Monitors effectiveness of recruiting programs and employment processes. Recommends program additions and enhancements, as well as changes to the staffing process to optimize results. Maintains overall staffing levels appropriate to achieve coprorate employment and hiring goals, works closely with Diversity/EEO to meet staffing goals, and ensures hiring and staffing practices adhere to applicable policies and federal and state regulations. Manages and directs department staff including assigning work and coaching and mentoring employees. Performs duties of an employment representative such as interviewing, hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating employees as needed.


REQUIREMENTS

Requires a bachelor degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field and ten or more years experience in field or related field. Master degree preferred. Demonstrated experience with e-recruiting methods and Talent Management Systems required. Experience with Virtual Edge staffing system preferred. Ability to analyze data and produce executive level summaries of analysis, along with recommendations for future actions required. Must be able to make good decisions based on analysis, judgment and experience. Must demonstrate ability to communicate clearly, both verbally, and in writing. Good management skills are needed, including ability to provide direct feedback, and take action when necessary. Familiarity with, and experience in developing, tracking and reporting on metrics related to staffing activity required. Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Project. Prefer experience in aerospace or high-tech engineering industry.
