ENGINEER III
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Logistics/Technical Support: Plan, conduct, and direct the integrated logistics support (ILS), tech manual, and training/documentation activities in support of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Ground Control Station (GCS) development, operation, and maintenance programs. Perform research, evaluation, and analysis, and lead a team of engineers, technical writers, and logistics specialists to develop a complete set of ILS, tech manual and training program deliverables. Provide accurate logistics/tech manual data, and support the development of engineering/logistics plans such as the UAV system Maintainability Plan, Human Factors Engineering Plan, Logistics Support Plan, Product Support Management Plan, Training Plan, and Tech Order Development Plan. Conduct Operations and Maintenance Task Analysis, and work in concert with engineers and subject matter experts to develop detailed flight operations procedures, and O-level maintenance procedures. Use this analysis and data to evaluate compliance with military and FAA requirements. Periodically, as required, write summaries and reports on the related systems, procedures, and processes, and support the development of customer deliverables. Use standard writing and illustration software to develop required deliverables, and investigate problem areas and interface with various engineering, flight operations, and maintenance personnel to verify/certify data and deliverables.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field. May substitute equivalent experience in the field. Typical minimum experience is five years with a bachelor’s or three years with a master’s degree. Fully computer literate with versatile knowledge of computer applications pertinent to the field and able to work extended hours when required. Strong interpersonal skills and both written and verbal skills that enhance communication with inter-organizational staff, customers, and senior external personnel. Analytical skills at a level capable of developing innovative new designs and solving complex technical problems. Capable of coordinating inter-organizational activities in providing solutions to complex technical issues. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications or field experience with military and/or civil aircraft and aircraft systems. Experience is highly desirable in the operations and/or maintenance of aircraft avionics systems, flight control, propulsion/engines, electrical, RF, EO/IR, weapons, and/or electronic aircraft systems. Experience or qualifications as a pilot or lead maintenance supervisor a plus, with a background in military, civil ILS and FAA requirements. Ideal work experience divided between active duty military and private/contractor sector assignments in aircraft maintenance, engineering, and/or operations.
