Elect Design & Analysis Engineer 5 - GMD Program Position Description The Boeing Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Program is seeking an experienced electrical design engineer for the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test organization. Technical job duties include the design, documentation, fabrication, integration and checkout of electrical and/or electro-mechanical test equipment and test system configurations. Additional job duties include project leadership and mentoring. The group supports test activities for Huntsville, AL; Vandenberg Air-Force Base, CA; and Ft. Greely, AK activities. AutoCAD or UG experience a plus. Knowledge of Boeing Design Processes and Material Review Board certification is preferred. Resolves complex issues on critical programs related to architectural approaches, requirements, specifications and design. Leads technical aspect of proposal preparation. Identifies critical performance measures and develops processes for computing them. Leads activities in support of Supplier Management with make/buy recommendations and other technical services. Coordinates engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the product. Develops new concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Recommends and manages technology insertion. Works under consultative direction. [ + ] Electrical Test Advanced, expert knowledge of electrical test methodology (e.g., stand alone bench, automated, integration laboratory, simulation, functional test), planning, procedures, equipment (e.g., multimeter, oscilloscope, bus analyzer, automated test systems) and result validation criteria (e.g., pass/fail, control limits, tolerances). [ + ] Engineering Drawings & Specs Advanced/expert ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Oversees and guides the efforts of others. Education and/or Experience Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 14 to 19 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 12 to 17 years experience or a PhD degree with 9 to 14 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Other Job related information This position prefers a current DoD Secret (minimum) security clearance.
