Electric Design Engineer

Schafer Corporation is currently looking for an Electric Design Engineer to work in their Space and Directed Energy Division in Albuquerque, NM.

The Space and Directed Energy Division is looking for an experienced professional with hands-on expertise to support an emerging engineering development program. All positions require an active security clearance:

This individual will be responsible for the following:

* Assist in the concept, design and development of power, electronic support, and control systems to support a developmental multi-axis controlled mechanism.
* Specific responsibilities are stabilization and control subsystems real time system operations, hardware specification, integration and test.
* Specific areas of interest will include image and tracking processors, data acquisition, storage, and dissemination.
* Must have a working background in primary and secondary power control and distribution, electronics system survivability and ruggedness, and operator controls and display units.
* Assist in conducting design trade studies, and system-level design and guiding component-level design.
*Assist in developing test plans and overall program planning, tracking, and review.

The following knowledge, skills and attributes are required:

* A BS Degree in science (math, physics), engineering (electrical, mechanical, aerospace), or computer science; advanced degree preferred for senior positions.
* Requires minimum 5 to 20 years technical experience.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
* Ability to work as a member of a team required.
* Prior experience as a member of an SE&I team useful.
* Familiarity with disciplined SE&I processes and procedures useful.
* Current Security Clearance required.
