Electrical Design and Analysis Engineer 4 - ISS Program Position Description Perform Electrical Engineering tasks associated with the design and integration of Electrical and Electronic Systems into the International Space Station. Develops and maintains functional and detail level designs. Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements. Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications. Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements. Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements. Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle. Researches specific technology advances for potential application to Company business needs. Works under general direction. [ + ] Circuit Design Extensive and specialized knowledge of analog and digital circuit design and packaging techniques. [ + ] EMI/EMC Extensive and specialized knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) considerations with respect to electrical/electronic design (e.g., wire harness design, grounding and shielding design techniques, lightning protection). [ + ] Electrical Gen & Distribution Extensive and specialized knowledge and ability to design, analyze and validate electrical power systems including generation, storage, distribution, load management, coversion, stability, current return networks, high-voltage corona effects, power filter and fault mitigation, etc. [ + ] Electronic/Electrical Domain Extensive knowledge of electronic/electrical systems or subsystems and components including the requirements, operating principles, design variables, performance, and key interfaces. Education and/or Experience Typically 9 to 13 years' experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 7 to 11 years' experience or a PhD degree with 4 to 8 years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Other Job related information US Citizenship is required. This position requires the ability to obtain access to a NASA facility. Experience with 1553, Ethernet, and RS-232 are highly desired. Experience using Unigraphics and E-matrix is desired. NASA program experience is a plus.
