Electrical Engineers

Two Electrical Engineering positions are open in Ultralife's Newark, NY facility. Designs and implements unique electronic solutions for power related devices. Creates design requirements for new and alterations to existing products. Proficiently captures block diagrams, schematic, and electrical requirements. Must be able to define and/or implement firmware requirements as required.

Candidate Interacts with other departments, as well as entities outside of the company, to facilitate product, process, materials, and equipment development and improvement. Candidate may direct the product engineering and prototyping efforts of up to several technicians.

WORK PERFORMED:
Essential Functions (listed in order of importance):
1. Communications. Communicates, in both written and verbal formats, within and across department lines and with external entities, to further project goals, prototype deliveries to customers, product enhancement.
2. Supervision. Supervises project work performed by subordinate personnel. Reviews performance of subordinates and provides comment as necessary; provides training and development as required.
3. Planning. Prepares complete tactical and operating plans as needed for assigned development projects in support of and integrated with, business needs and strategic company plans. Generates ideas for new projects or new design directions.
4. Project Execution. Performs assignments with minimal supervision. Maintains accurate and detailed engineering records, including a regularly witnessed laboratory notebook. Performs engineering procedures in a manner consistent with high engineering standards. Adheres to all safety regulations. Performs necessary analyses of prototype and engineering results and reviews analyses performed by subordinates and others. Writes invention disclosures for new ideas and discoveries. Overtime as required.
5. Reporting. Communicates project results, recommended actions, and pertinent information obtained from external entities as required.
6. Management Support. Assists engineering management in formulating and carrying out departmental policies, planning and administration, preparation of proposals to external customers, and preparation of capital and operating budgets.
7. Professional Development. Maintains and enhances job-related skills by reading the technical literature and attending training sessions, courses, trade shows and conferences.

Additional Responsibilities:
1. Supervision. May supervise the technical activities of one or more technicians.
2. Other work as directed by Supervisor.

Required: B.S. in Electrical Engineering 

Experience with Linear Integrated Circuits, Discrete Semiconductors, Switching Power Supplies, and Charger design principles is desired. Familiarity with UL/CE certifications, EMI design principles and programming microprocessors (8 to 32bit) is a plus.
