IEC is a defense industry supplier that designs critical test instrumentation and tracking systems, and is a leader in Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and services for military and industrial applications.

 

Job Title: Engineer Staff

The Systems Engineer performs development of GPS and/or GPS/inertial navigation system and flow down of requirements, system concepts, algorithm and architecture and implementation concepts, technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

- Generate system requirements for GPS and GPS/IMU products. Ensure the systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.

- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

- Participate in product development process including structured requirements and design reviews.

- Provides system engineering direction and customer support for use of GPS and GPS/inertial navigation products in customer guidance and control system.

- Support proposal preparation, systems engineering cost estimation, and presentation of assigned tasks for internal and external customers.

- Assist System engineering with directed analysis at all levels of total system product.

 

These analyses may include:

- Concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal; reliability, safety, maintainability, hazard analysis, and manufacturability analyses.

- Technical background must include academic and practical experience with probability and statistics, control systems, digital signal processing, Kalman filtering, and/or tracking loop theory.

- Knowledge of the integration of GPS navigation into higher level systems such as aircraft, handheld, vehicular and weapons guidance applications.

- Automated requirements management tools (Requisite Pro, DOORS or SLATE) highly desired.

- MathCAD, MATLAB or similar experience a plus.

- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies.

- Ability to read computer codes for algorithmic soundness.

- Ability to understand customer application for GPS navigation products and direct the integration of L-3 products into customer systems.

 

Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in EE, Math, or Physics is required. Graduate degree is a plus.

- Candidate must be able to obtain a US Government Security Clearance.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- System analysis skills proven through academic and practical work.

- Generation and management of system requirements through structured specifications, design documentation and Interface Control Documents.

- Anticipate and solve complex engineering problems and develop standards and guidelines for diverse engineering activities.

- At least two years systems engineering experience incorporating RF, digital signal processing, estimation theory, and/or structured system engineering practices such as CMMI.

- Experience with integration into applications such as weapons, handheld, vehicular navigation or aircraft required.

- Experience with formal specification and ICD development
