Engineering Specialist - Payload Modification Leader

Airbus North America Engineering – Mobile, Alabama is a satellite office of Airbus North America Engineering (ANAE) engaged in the design, engineering and analysis of aircraft interiors, interior systems, and cargo systems. This position will apply ample knowledge of principles, theories, concepts, industry practices and standards to deliver high quality design engineering solutions while assuring procedural compliance within assigned engineering project teams.

 

This candidate will function as a Payload Modification Leader

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Responsible for creating feasibility studies and engineering proposals in response to customer request.Responsible for generating aircraft modification project plan upon customer acceptance.Responsible for monitoring all project activities which includes engineering data, Service Bulletin, modification kit and supplier coordination.Ensure that the design can be certified and all the necessary data for test and certification is produced.Responsible to coordinate working party support to ensure successful embodiment of the service bulletin at MRO.Ensure that project estimates are accurate and up-to-date, and to provide recovery plan for project re-alignment if required.Ensure that the engineering solution is delivered on-time, with high level of quality and within budget.Responsible to implement design review process to monitor engineering deliverables.Integrate the activities of the cross functional and multi-cultural team across several projects.Manage design changes that guarantee an optimum engineering result.Strong liaison with other departments both internally and internationally.Provide coaching and guidance to the team, and sustaining motivation through communication and recognition.

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION GUIDELINES:

 BS in Engineering. Advanced degree in Management or MBA a plus.Minimum of 10 years in direct aircraft modification experience.Must possess strong engineering skills with understanding in aircraft structure, systems, cabin furnishing and electrical components.Ability to read engineering drawings, write project reports, technical memorandums, interface agreements, requirements documents using good technical English.Must have strong project or program management experience.Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.Ability to map and understand complex engineering processes, and to extract information from those processes to include timescales, enablers, deliverables and risk.Ability to lead multi-cultural and transnational team effectively.Must have extensive experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Project.
