Experienced Java Software Engineer

LOCATION: HUNTSVILLE, AL 35801 Job Description: Java software developer will work in a fast-paced environment supporting development and integration of Geographic Information System (GIS) software for an International Command and Control System. Activities will include full life-cycle support to development of significant new GIS functional capabilities along with upgrade and maintenance of legacy GIS software. Occasional Java application development support to a sophisticated simulation system may also be required. Software will developed on windows platforms for deployment on Sun/Solaris-based military systems. Required Skills: Minimum of 6 years Java software development experience under a variety of operating systems which must include Windows or Solaris. Must have previous experience developing Java software for military applications using CMMI Level 3 (or higher) software engineeering processes. Strong inter-personal skills and experience working in a multi-company teams also required. Occasional domestc and international business travel will be required. Desired Skills: Previous experience developing GIS software for military systems. Experience in use of ClearCase configuration management system during software developmnent. Experience of developing UML, Use Cases and similar design artifacts. Experience developing Java on Linux-based systems and experience developing software using languages such as C/C++and Ada also a plus. Required Education(including Major): BS/BA in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology or similar engineering discipline.
