That's why we're here. Facilities Plant Maintenance Specialist B Position Description Basic knowledge of building codes, regulations and safety procedures. Under general supervision, demonstrates increased skill level in construction to include rough-in and lay-out. Is able to read basic blueprints and becomes familiar with building codes. May be considered an apprentice. Under general supervision, provides general support in response to routine trouble calls. Demonstrated understanding of customer service concepts. Under general supervision, demonstrates increased skill level in the repair and maintenance of plant and office facilities. Uses power tools under general supervision. Under general supervision, uses hand and power tools to construct, renovate and repair facilities and equipment. Provides encouragement and support to others in accepting responsibility.Technical [ + ] Architecture Engr & Constr General knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and practices related to civil/structural systems, equipment, and components. Basic understanding of Building codes, Department of Defense (DOD) specs, and Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NEC) to ensure requirements. [ + ] Engineering Drawings & Specs General ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. [ + ] Equipment Knowledge General knowledge of attributes, performance capabilities, and the market value of products and equipment. May include knowledge of payload/range, seat count, engine type, fuel burn, noise characteristics, maintenance condition, economic useful life, and current market value. [ + ] Operations & Maint Support General knowledge of operations, environments, and maintenance support concepts. [ + ] Power Tool Proficiency General knowledge and skill in the use of powered hand tools (e.g. skill saws, sanders, drills, etc.). Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED and 1 to 3 years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other Job related information Any documented training associated with National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) regulations is highly desirable. High voltage and Local Area Networking (LAN) experience is a plus.
