Field Engineer II - Ground Terminal Maintenance
Field Engineer II is responsible for a very broad range of Ground Terminal Maintenance activities. Primary maintenance activities will be plumbing and mechanical, but also includes electrical, HVAC, and more. Will contribute to installing, checking out, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying ground terminal equipment. Maintenance includes mechanical (welding, milling, pneumatics, hydraulics, hydrostatic, etc.), antennae, cooling systems/heat exchangers (air conditioners, water cooled systems, motor replacements, etc.), and some Electrical (lighting, etc.), and more. Monitor system operation, analyze system performance, and identify deficiencies. Analyze equipment failures to determine cause. Develop engineering solutions and coordinate and act as liaison with engineering and manufacturing vendors concerning improvements to products and correction of deficiencies. Decisions prevent failures or serious operational or program impacts. Devise and implement preventative maintenance programs to improve equipment efficiency and/or reduce cost of operations. Participate in installation planning and help oversee projects completed by outside venders. Will coordinate with vendors to assess fix or replacement of current ground terminal equipment, hardware and parts. Will perform in an open environment where frequent and direct interaction and collaboration with customers and peers is ordinary. The work schedule is a traditional daytime hours, however occasional overtime maybe be required including evenings, weekends, holidays, etc. Basic Qualifications - Required Experience, Skills: Requires a bachelor’s degree in an applicable technical subject, or equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of two years of applicable work experience. Requires four or more years experience performing plumbing activities. Requires four or more years experience performing mechanical maintenance activities. Requires four or more years of welding experience (Mig, Arc, etc.), or two years welding experience plus a formal certification in welding (this can be earned through military training or a professional welding association). Ability to work at heights (will occasionally work at 60 feet or higher) Safety training will be provided. Traditional work week. May be required to work occasional weekends and holidays as schedule dictates. REQUIRES US CITIZENSHIP Requires ability to satisfy requirements for a Top Secret SCI SSBI security clearance. Desired Experience, Skills, Knowledge: An active or current (active within the last five years) Top Secret SCI SSBI security clearance is a significant advantage. HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance experience. Must be able to make appropriate decisions regarding repair of systems, replacement of units within a system and repair or replacement of components. Must be able to make appropriate recommendations to engineering and manufacturing concerning improvements to products and correction of deviancies. Ability to effectively evaluate and recommend methods of testing, operation and maintenance of systems. Experience with the following fields: Plumbing, Carpentry, Mechanical and Electrical experience.
