Field Engineer II - S-Band/X-Band Radar

Job Description: Support the daily activities onboard the USNS Invincible. Duties include mission/track planning, operation, maintenance, and repair of a dual S and X Band radar system and ancillary equipment. Providing support to on-board software engineering is required, as well as development of system operation and maintenance procedures. Auxiliary duties may include security manager, logistics support, or quality assurance responsibilities. Required Skills: Radar system operation and repair experience including troubleshooting and maintaining X-Band and S-Band transmitters, microwave receivers, servo systems, VME architecture, and computer networks. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain SGI computer hardware and UNIX/IRIX operating systems; maintain master timing systems, GPS, Navigation and LN100 Stabilization systems. Troubleshoot and maintain high voltage power supplies and RF frequency generation equipment. Radar operation experience required. Desired Skills: Ability to organize, perform and direct technical activities of troubleshooting efforts/teams. Extensive UNIX/IRIX operating system experience. Extensive knowledge of related Test Equipment and Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment. Work Environment: This position is required to have an existing Secret Security Clearance. This position is located on a forward deployed vessel that spends a lot of time at sea. Candidates must be willing and able to live on a ship at sea in tight quarters, and must be willing and able to climb shipboard radar towers while at sea. Individuals must be able to pass a maritime physical. Required Education : A Bachelors Degree in a technical field with 2 or more years of experience, OR an Associates degree in a technical field and 6 years of relevant experience OR 10 years experience with a Graduate of a military radar "C" school. . . Relevant experience includes military experience and training in radar systems or similarly complex electronics equipment.
