Financial Operations Accountant

Our client, one of the nation's largest aerospace and defense companies, is looking for a Financial Operations Accountant to join their dynamic accounting group! This position takes responsibility for the defense division headquarters’ general accounting and reporting processes, the billing and job cost accounting functions, intra-company transactions, and cash management associated with the headquarters and U.S subsidiary cash pool.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

General Ledger Accounting: Monthly close processes including accruals, prepayments and journal entriesDaily accounting including journal entries, recording of cash receipts and cash disbursementsPreparation of monthly financial statementsAccount reconciliations and follow through to resolve reconciling itemsBank account transactions review and reconciliation

Periodic General Accounting:Balance Sheet review, investments and Equity accounting adjustments401K and other external benefit provider transactionsExternal and Internal Audit schedules Tax schedules

Invoicing and Accounts Receivable:Analyzing project costs and allocations  and managing of unbilled and back-up support for Wide Area Workflow billingsPrepare and send Service Agreement invoices quarterly for Service Agreement costsPrepare and send pass-through invoices monthly for other costs incurred on behalf of related parties including supporting data summaries and detail Prepare monthly inter-company revenue reconciliation scheduleReconcile open AR and AP balances monthly through the inter-company Reconciliation Tool Reconcile and schedule unbilled receivables monthlyAnalyze open AR, send monthly statements, manage and improve collections

Other Responsibilities:Accounts Payable and Payroll support Analysis of accounting data and preparing ad-hoc reports.

 

Requirements: Bachelors in Accounting.1-3 years of accounting in the U.S. Federal Government Contracting environment. Strong knowledge of US GAAP and U.S. Federal Government regulations required. Experience with Costpoint project and billing experience strongly preferred. Microsoft Excel Team-oriented, with excellent communication skills
