GMD Information Assurance Systems Engineer 4 Position Description Performs Information Assurance (IA) related duties on Ground-based Mid-Course Defense (GMD) mission, test and administrative computing systems and networks. Specific duties include conducting Certification & Accreditation (C&A) pre-test, test execution and post-test analysis and mitigation planning; development and execution of network connection approval documents supporting GMD integration, test and operational events. Individual shall be required to conduct IA risk assessments, assess and recommend cost-effective risk-mitigating IA countermeasures, and coordinate security approvals to operate recommendations with Government customers and Certification/Designated Approval Authorities following Government Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) and National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) processes. Will be required to present IA requirements, design and implementations at working groups and other technical forums. Other duties as directed. Some travel required to GMD operational sites and contractor locations. REQUIRED: Previous Information Assurance (IA) related work experience and knowledge of security requirements for Automated Information Systems. Related work experience with DoD 5200.22, 5200.40, 8500.1, 8500.2, Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) and National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). Demonstrated success working in a distributed team environment with multiple organizations and contractors. Preferred: Demonstrated IA experience on major DoD weapons systems and familiarity with Unix, AIX, Linux, Sun Solaris and Windows. Knowledge of System risk management process, system architecture and design, and threat impact knowledge. Ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance. [ + ] Government Security Reg Extensive and specialized knowledge of government security regulations (e.g., National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual [NISPOM], International Traffic in Arms Regulations [ITAR], Export Administration Regulations [EAR]). [ + ] System Security Processes Extensive and specialized knowledge of system security domains (e.g., information assurance, anti-tamper, intrusion detection, software protection, software assurance, communications security, encryption and key management, network security, reverse engineering, countermeasures, certification and accreditation, special security endorsement) and industry and government guidance and regulations [e.g., Common Criteria, DoD Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process (DITSCAP), National Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (NIACAP), Director Central Intelligence Directive DCID 6/3] which engineers apply to produce secure systems. Education and/or Experience Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 9 to 13 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 7 to 11 years experience or a PhD degree with 4 to 8 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Other Job related information Position requires US Citizenship.
