GMD Radar Systems Analyst Engineer 4/5 Position Description The Radar Systems Engineer Analyst must understand radar systems design and development with emphasis on system models and simulations as a development tool. The Engineer will work with UEWR (Upgraded Early Warning Radar) and SBX (Sea-based X-band Radar) models based on interface documentation and internal Boeing and subcontractor specifications. The engineer will conduct/lead studies using Radar component models and simulations. The candidate must be able to work with the subcontractor engineers of the Radar Product Development Teams and GMD systems engineers to analyze and make performance predictions as well as resolve issues resulting from subcontractor or systems level modeling and analysis. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolves cross-functional technical issues. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Leads analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. [ + ] System Integration/Design Basic - Extensive ability to build computing systems from a variety of components to provide a business solution, including the ability to integrate application components and databases across computing platforms. Preferred -Exercises advanced, expert engineering judgment in developing appropriate decisions considering decision criteria, implications, and possible consequences, to ensure product design integrity. Demonstrates understanding of the applicable scientific and engineering knowledge and routinely includes industry-wide subject matter experts to obtain good information for the engineering decision-making process. Education and/or Experience Level 4 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 9 to 13 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 7 to 11 years experience or a PhD degree with 4 to 8 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 5 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 14 to 19 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 12 to 17 years experience or a PhD degree with 9 to 14 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Other Job related information ** This position requires a current secret clearance. Please indicate on resume current clearance level and date of last review.** The Engineer must possess a detailed technical and operational understanding of missile defense radar system analysis techniques and methodology. Engineer will review technical specifications and interface documentation relating to sensor management. Engineer must have excellent writing and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a dynamic, multiple organization, collaborative engineering environment. The Engineer responsibility is to provide subject matter expertise on the radars with emphasis on radar performance analysis and interfaces with GMD elements. Experience in the command and control and missile defense is a plus. GMD knowledge required. SBX knowledge a plus.
