GMD System Security Engineering Support Analyst 5 Position Description The GMD System Security Engineering Support Analyst will perform system engineering activities including system analysis, requirements definition/allocation, and verification that provide system security. Candidate will apply engineering principles to identify potential security vulnerabilities and minimize/contain risks associated with those vulnerabilities and use engineering methods to specify, predict and evaluate vulnerability of the GMD Element, in particular, the Product Development Components, to security threats. Candidate will plan/perform tasks to achieve maximum security/survivability of the GMD Element throughout its life cycle, quickly resolve program critical-path security issues and perform technical analysis to resolve security classification issues. Candidate will interface with other program elements to ensure security functions are integrated into the total system engineering effort and ensure security disciplines (physical, transportation, communications, information systems, emissions, and operations) are incorporated into component concepts, designs and plans to ensure compliance with contract requirements, customer needs and allocated budget. Candidate will document results in trade-studies, CONOPS, security plans, policies and procedures, facilities manuals, operations guides and other written/verbal reports. Candidate must ensure customer success through close working relationship with the Joint Project Office, establishing realistic developments plans, and providing accurate estimates to execute those plans. He or she will develop strategies, initiatives, and improvements to enhance the value of component products System Security, Information Assurance, and Computer Network Defense. The successful candidate will: provide technical leadership for cross-organizational component personnel and subcontractors involved in engineering changes and new business development; act as technical liaison to external GMD entities providing technical explanations of component system operation and fielding questions related to component project operation; understand customer requirements and convey those requirements to component product personnel and subcontractors as discrete tasks; direct development of technical and programmatic aspects of proposals including technical volumes, statements of work, schedules, task descriptions, and Basis of Estimates; participate in technical evaluation reviews of subcontractor proposals; provide program leadership with insight into engineering changes that are responsible to requirements, budget, and schedules; demonstrate the ability to institute processes and procedures to maximize team effectiveness; represent the component in technical reviews, to include SRR's, PDR's, and CDR's; and represent the component as the technical System Security Engineering focal. Position requires interface with other product teams, management and customer representatives. Some travel required. Candidate must demonstrate experience and knowledge of: Government security policies and requirements relative to classified weapon system design and acquisition; implementing multi-discipline security features in DoD/other classified acquisition programs; implementing DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation (DIACAP) and DoD 8500 Information Assurance requirements. COMSEC and NISPOM experience desired; CISSP or equivalent security certification desired. Advanced/expert knowledge of identifying and gaining approval of testing of established applications to meet project requirements. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree and typically 14 to 19 years' related work experience or a Master's degree with 12 to 17 years' related work experience or a PhD degree with 9 to 14 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
