Description:

The role of the Graphic Artist requires a diverse skill set ranging from interactive graphics and procedural animations to interactive web programming. 

 

Requirements:

 

Requirements for this position include an Associates degree, BFA or equivalent, the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects, knowledge of industry trends such as Section 508 and SCORM. Must possess knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures of visual communications. Also required is a team-oriented and deadline-oriented approach, creativity, and strong attention and responsiveness to internal and external customer service.  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work with Ed Techs and Instructors to produce graphic materials for Computer Based Training (CBTs) and Classroom Led Instruction (EMILs).  In order to achieve this, each Graphic Artist must possess a strong understanding of page composition, color theory (as it pertains to graphics and to web development), and the dynamics of web design.  Specifically, each Graphic Artist should:

· Have an extensive working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator. Cockpit panels and gauges must be created in Adobe Illustrator and edited therein.  Additional graphics may be created in Adobe Illustrator at the Ed Tech’s request.

· Have an extensive working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. Course graphics are primarily composed in Photoshop.  Therefore, each Graphic Artist should be knowledgeable in Photoshop’s diverse toolset, with an emphasis on photographic retouching. 

· Have an extensive working knowledge of Macromedia Flash.  Interactive elements are produced in the Flash format.  Each Graphic Artist should have a proven background in Flash development, including basic interactive programming via Actionscript 2. 

In addition to these primary skills, each Graphic Artist should have experience with the following:Basic keyframe animation using Lightwave 3DBasic 3D Modeling using Lightwave 3D3D Landscape creation using Vue d’EspritVideo editing and conversion using Virtual DubWeb-based graphic optimization using Adobe Image ReadyFile backup and restoration using WinZip, WinRAR, or WinACEProject archival onto CD-ROM and/or DVD-ROM using NERO Burning ROM

· Basic digital audio and video editing

· Familiarity with LightWave 3D

· Familiarity with basic Web development/layout

· Familiarity with the Windows operating system

· Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

 

In addition to these skills, the following are also highly desired, but not required:

· Animation in the Flash format via Swish 2.0.

· Animation of particle effects with Illusion 2.0 or 3.0

· Video composing, editing, and animation using Adobe After Effects

· Actionscript 3 programming
