H-53K Navigation Systems Engineer

Act as the resident SME on a NAVAIR team in support of the H-53K program, navigation system specification, testing, requirements capture and integration.


Essential Job Functions:


Oversee and review all navigation functions, database formats, interfaces, and future upgrades that fulfill performance specifications.


Create and maintain engineering documentation germane to the project as deemed by the customer and the lead systems engineer.


Attend technical reviews as required and record all relevant engineering inputs.


Perform action items as deemed necessary by the customer and lead systems engineer.


Adapt to top-down architecture changes and document impact on navigation systems requirements.


Required Skills:


Ability to pro-actively and clearly communicate to all parties within the Systems Engineering Mater Plan.


Knowledge of navigation systems, procedures, and supporting database formats.


Knowledge of Mil-Std-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet, and RS-422 data bus structures.


Knowledge of drawings and data systems in order to understand design requirements.


Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical and systems.


The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.


Desired Skills:


Previously or currently a pilot.


Acquisition experience within a DoD agency using a Systems Engineering Process and experience with technical reviews.


Knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support and the Organizational to Depot level maintenance model.


Knowledge of avionics standards that enable human factors engineering to reduce air crew workload.


Awareness of developments in the avionics and air traffic management industry that can contribute to future architecture capability growth within budgetary and schedule constraints.
