ILS System Engineer

SUMMARY

The ILS System Engineer is responsible for system performance validation and system FMEA. . This position is responsible for system test performance for BITE features on and off the aircraft.

 

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose is to cover issues that associate themselves to direct Customer System Support related issues.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. 

 Acts as the primary customer for ASW for system support during the early development phase. Ensures system configuration requirements are met. Ensures system functionality requirements are met. Ensures system test validation requirements are met. Develops System Requirements and then releases those requirements that will be used early in the system development cycle. Participates in FSAT testing and signs off for customer support Ensures Fault Isolation Requirements are defined and reported such that all information will be made available to the Tech Pubs department for the purpose of release of FIM documentation. Supports System Engineering  during development and qualification testing for BITE and Maintenance functions Ensure that each LRU is fully supportable for on board diagnostic testing and reporting. This to also include Ground based equipment functionality Ensures that software update/upload is efficient and easily supportable for all aircraft configurations Develops metric reports on system test and system performance to show all specifications are met and exceeded. Support SSE with IFE system troubleshooting and system/software diagnosis as required. Travel may be required.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

-Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years related experience

-knowledge of IFE systems and networks

-knowledge of system functionality to such a level as to be able to release System Development Requirements

-knowledge of Fault Isolation principles and to work with both the TBU system developers and ASW technical publication departments

-knowledge of software update and upload process to efficient customer product support levels to Thales customers

-knowledge of system troubleshooting and diagnostic principles to ensure products are developed and supportable in the future

-system support and testing of Linux-based network products; experience with the coding and development of testing principles for early development to hardware and software products;experience with various diagnostic tools for the support of IFE products; experience with development and qualification of FSATs

-experience with testing and test reports to such a level as to report the results to upper management and customers.
