INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEER

JUNIOR ENGINEER (Flight Instrumentation Support) This is an entry level Engineering position that requires a basic knowledge of engineering technology and systems engineering concepts and how they are applied to specific technical tasks. Shall be able to follow first-level supervisor direction to be able to review project instructions to ascertain requirements, specifications, procedures, objectives, equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions. Will be required to learn how to set up and conduct tests or studies of complete systems, components, or concepts under research test conditions to investigate proposals for improving performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control with some supervisory direction and review. Will record test or report procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and make recommendations for changes. Will create reports and other documentation necessary to describe the results of studies and / or tests. Creates project schedules to track progress on projects and to ensure that deadlines are met. Analyzes indicated and calculated results in relation to requirements, specifications, or test objectives. Shall follow the safe practices and rules contained in the TYBRIN Corporate Safety and Health plan and other such rules and practices communicated on the job. (Yrs.): 0-3 Status: Exempt Type: Regular/Full-TimeThis position is an Instrumentation Engineer for the Dryden Flight Instrumentation Branch in support of the overall Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC) aerospace research projects. The instrumentation engineer will generate requirements and perform requirements decomposition to fully design, test and support flight instrumentation systems on current and future research projects. The position will be responsible for the planning and provisioning to the conduct, analysis and reporting to include the functional areas of Calibration and Environmental Test, Instrumentation Fabrication, Instrumentation Laboratory, Hanger Calibration, Telemetry Data Processing Specification, Instrumentation Sensor and Signal Processing Specification and Evaluation. Participate in the rapid-prototyping of research-grade flight instrumentation systems consisting of sensors, signal conditioning, wiring, PCM encoders, data recorders, telemetry hardware; and participate in a team of hardware and software instrumentation engineers and instrumentation technicians to accomplish measurement requirements within project schedule, budget, vehicle power, weight, volume and environmental constraints. All work performed will be in accordance with NASA ISO AS9100 procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. Strong communications and ability to work in a team environment a must. May be mentored by other contractor or government engineers. Provide monthly status inputs to the responsible task focal point.U.S. citizenship required.
