Laser Design Engineer

Our Client is a leading manfuacture of EO IR systems, laser systems and other unique technologies  for DOD, DHS, and other agencies of US government. We’re looking for seasoned engineer who will be responsible for designing, building, and testing prototype and pre-production of diode pumped solid-state lasers for a variety of fielded applications. The position requires extensive laboratory experience in laser assembly, diagnostics, and test. It will also require proficiency in the following disciplines: Laser modeling, resonator modeling, laser material thermal and polarization analysis, electro-optic and acousto-optic q-switching techniques, nonlinear frequency conversion techniques, laboratory and system level laser diagnostics, integration and test of preproduction prototypes.Qualifications must includeMaster of Science (M.S) in electronics, optics, or physical sciences with emphasis on laser systems. 10+ years of related work experience in electronics, electro-mechanics, lasers or optics. Extensive hands on experience in using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators and power meters with no direction or training needed. Experience in optical alignment of optical systems, optical measurements, operating sophisticated devises such as spectrometers, spectrophotometers, interferometers on a routine basis is preferred. Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical, optical and electrical specifications using drawings and manuals. Routine use of common software applications such as MS Word and MS Excel MS Power Point to produce reports and graphs is required. Familiarity with LabView software is a plus.
