Launch Vehicle Loads & Dynamics Analyst (1396)

DescriptionPerform dynamic response analysis of Atlas V and Delta IV launch vehicles to define loads, accelerations, and displacements of both the payload and launch vehicle. Tasks include assembly and checkout of finite element models, processing and verification of forcing functions, development and implementation of loads methodologies. Familiarization with component mode synthesis methods, transient and frequency response analysis, model correlation, dynamic test, and/or processing of flight data is beneficial.Required SkillsAbility to work both independently and as part of a small team to organize, analyze, document, and present findings to mission engineers and management. Experience with finite element codes (especially Nastran) and numerical simulation codes (primarily matlab) is desired. Previous work on Aerospace systems including launch vehicles and satellites is advantageous. Training/experience in computer programming on unix based systems is highly beneficial.Required ExperienceIdeal candidates will have 5-10 years experience performing similar work, although outstanding recent graduates with applicable coursework will also be considered. The successful candidate should have a B.S. (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred) in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance is a requirement for employment consideration (existing clearance not required).
