Lead Hardware/Firmware Engineer

The Lead Hardware/Firmware Engineer is responsible for leading the digital design of the Digitizer Chassis and Printed Wiring Assemblies (PWAs) related to the Signal Processing Cabinet for a 2D radar upgrade program. This will include interfacing and influencing the RF and analog PWA designs of the program, the mechanical design aspects, and support and design of the digital/analog hardware/firmware aspect of the program (including setting up the FPGA development environment).Will ensure that the design and development activities follow the established Sensis SOP's associated with the program plan, including but not limited to:- Lead the Design of the HW architecture to meet the program's system requirements- Work with System Engineering to determine hardware/firmware functionality and timing requirements.- Develop Specifications for non-developmental items such as the Digitizer Chassis (backplane/power/cooling)- Develop hardware/firmware design and test documentation.- Work with mechanical department to create/update article and system drawings.- Work with production department or other on fabrication/test issues.- Lead Digitizer Chassis integration effort for both unit and system levels- Participate in customer site inspection and integration efforts- Oversee hardware designs to ensure functional and timing requirements are met.- Prototype circuits to determine feasibility/operability.- Oversee firmware designs to ensure functional and timing requirements are met.- Develop simulation models to verify firmware functionality.- Lead the test efforts for firmware application utilizing hardware prototype.- Integrate firmware prototypes design into system.- Develop, review, and suggest common development tools and intellectual property that would make the team operate more efficiently- Mentor junior level hardware engineers or co-op students on firmware related tasks.- Participate in review of both PWB and other firmware designs.- Participate team related activities and team meetings- Participate in customer related review preparation and presentation activities. BSEE/BSCE, plus 8-10 years experience in digital board or FPGA design, test, and integration.- Prior digital development experience using FPGAs/EPLDs. Prior experience utilizing either Altera's Quartus or Xilinx's ISE FPGA development tools.- Background in digital board design, test, and integration experience a plus.- DSP and RF system experience a plus.- Some Domestic or International travel may be required- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills and effective time managementSensis provides an excellent working environment offering advancement and professional growth opportunities, competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package.
