Lead Radar Systems Engineer
Job Description: Syracuse Research has developed a revolutionary new radar system to detect mortar rounds fired at or around our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Experienced radar systems engineers are needed to lead the development of new generations of the Lightweight Counter-Mortar Radar (LCMR) and enhance the capabilities of the current system and related technologies. The LCMR was identified as the U.S. Army’s Top Ten Invention for 2005. The radar’s unique lightweight, portable design and 360-degree coverage has made it critical in protecting U.S. Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. This Lead Radar Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading an inter-disciplinary team at our Syracuse location to design, analyze, and test of advanced radar systems. Duties will include architecture development; analysis through integration and test; performing trade studies; creating requirement and design specs; performing simulations; and supporting customer presentations. This individual will also travel to various test sites in the U.S. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, math or physics is required, but a master's degree is preferred. Candidate must have five or more years of practical working experience with radar system(s). Solid Matlab and C/C++ experience a plus. Applicant must be familiar with digital signal processing algorithms, techniques and related technologies. Individual must be an excellent technical writer capable of capturing complex ideas and concepts in technical reports and documents. Experience as a team lead or supervisor also a plus. Security Clearance Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen.
