Job Category: IT/Software Development Job Requisition Number: Q10826 Perform research into advanced computing devices and software. Develop and maintain standards for computing environment. Provide leadership, direction, and recommendations in the acquisition of computing equipment, networks, Network Operating Systems (NOS), and software. Plan and coordinate the installation of new equipment and software. Support the installed base of network infrastructure, server, and client computing equipment, including user assistance, trouble shooting, configuring systems, and working with vendors. Lead major projects; give direction to project teams. Capable of working as a team leader. Proposes and implements system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Areas of responsibility include administration of applications, Web, file and print servers, email, terminal servers, and network operating systems. Responsible for project planning, cost analysis, vendor comparisons and product research. Ensure investments in the right computing equipment for network infrastructure through end user devices. Maintain user productivity and meet customer s requirements. Ensure all computing equipment is integrated or integrative. Ensure installations are completed on or ahead of schedule, within budget. Provide leadership and project management for special projects. Provide input and technical direction to IS strategic plan. Plan major projects across multiple sites. Work with users to evaluate business needs for personal computing hardware and software. Test new hardware and software for compatibility with computing environment. Makes presentations on new technologies and improved management of existing technologies. Provide multi-site network and PC technical support. Configure Client Server networks for optimal performance. Configure personal computers for optimal performance. Provide network server support in acquisition, installation, administrating, and problem resolution. Write AFE s for network infrastructure equipment, computing hardware and software. Provide on-call support for special projects, and/or daily etc. Work with vendors in demonstrating new hardware and software to GSD. Develop, implement and present training programs. Diagnose and eliminate viruses from PCs and servers. Work with UNIX support to test new and troubleshoot existing networked UNIX devices. Share the responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor. Comply with company safety policies and maintain a safe work environment. Performs other duties as necessary and appropriate to this position. Maintain system documentation, tune system performance. Must Have the Following: U.S. Citizen. Highly trained in network connectivity, Knowledgeable in storage technologies (NAS, SAN). Highly trained in distributed printing architecture, Highly trained in personal computing software architecture. Highly trained in messaging systems (Exchange), Highly trained in personal computer operating systems (Windows, Linux). Highly trained in network operating systems (Windows, NetWare, Unix, Linux), Highly trained in directory technologies (LDAP, eDirectory, Active Directory). Trained in Web technologies (IIS, Apache), Trained in Desktop Management applications (SMS, Zenworks, Radia) Remedy. 5+ Years with BS or 2+ Years with MS or 0+ Years with PhD. Ability to work in a multi-site environment, Able to clearly present technical subjects to management and user groups. Ability to work in a team environment, Demonstrate self-management with team status and follow through. Good listening skills. Able to clearly explain Client Server and Personal Computer hardware and software operations to end-users. Patience with end users when assisting with problems.Prefer to Have the Following: Clustering.
