The Lean Project Leader position is a highly visible position that will require effective interaction with all levels of the organization.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Marketing lean six sigma to expand continuous improvement awareness at GDC4S• Promoting and teaching lean concepts to organizations and work groups. • Promote the use of Lean tools and the kaizen improvement methodology• Promoting awareness and benefits of continuous improvement techniques• Identifying problems and suggesting event based solutions utilizing lean six sigma concepts• Increasing the number of lean six sigma events held each year• Contributing to quarterly lean six sigma publication• Directing people to the lean six sigma website for continuous improvement information, event idea solicitation and continuous improvement savings input beyond that which is directly tied to the lean six sigma team.2. Facilitating continuous improvement events• Coordinating lean six sigma training (6S, value stream mapping, set up reduction, etc.)• Leading training sessions per established operating procedures• Facilitating the development of a communication plan that provides necessary information initially and at regular intervals throughout the change process, tracks progress, highlights successes, encourages efforts, fosters trust, and share best practices.• Compiling and distributing lean six sigma project results• Maintaining established electronic repositories and communication methods• Ensuring that lean six sigma work is positively impacting both results and the culture change. This culture change should include total employee involvement, linking individual and team activities to opportunities and business needs. Maintain a positive atmosphere during this culture change3. Follow-up of all events until completion• Scheduling 30, 60, and 90 day follow-up sessions to maintain group momentum and to ensure action item completion• Pursuing parking lot entries with event champion to promote continuous improvement culture change and continued growth of the lean six sigma program• Finalizing all entries in established electronic repositories and communication methods to ensure savings and return on investment information is calculated and capturedRequired skills and abilities: • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Strong facilitation skills• Candidate must be detail oriented• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload• Ability to act as a change agent and work in a team environment. • Candidate must have integrity and initiative to work with minimal supervision.• Candidate must have a high level of proficiency using Microsoft Office• Knowledge of and experience implementing Toyota Production System ( or equivalent) principles and tools• Experience in office lean implementation or support operation lean implementation (beyond the shop floor) a plus• The candidate will also be required to identify and develop lean practitioners within the organization (Train the Trainer) to develop lean activities outside the personal direction of the lean six sigma team• A Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering (or equavalent) with at least 3 years of related industry experience.• Green Belt or black belt Six Sigma Certification a plus.• Excellent organizational abilities. • Ability to coordinate projects and multi-task• High level of proficiency using Microsoft OfficeLean Manufacturing techniques including the following: 1. Value Stream Mapping (traditional and swim lane) 2. 6S implementation 3. Setup reduction 4. Pull scheduling (Kanban) 5. Mistake proofing 6. Single piece flowMust be able to travel 20% of the time.
