Manager, Purchasing (Indirect)

Manage the Supply Chain activity as needed to support the procurement and acquisition of all indirect material, supplies and capital equipment for the St. Louis site. Manage the customer owned property (tooling) administration.  Manage and administer the annual Certification and Representation process and Small Disadvantaged Business Program.

 Principal Accountabilities

 

1) Develop and implement indirect supplier strategies to support the overall operation for the GKN St. Louis site. Develop a responsive supplier base, providing cost effective, on-time delivery of quality material.

 

2)  Manage the Customer Owned Property (tooling) function. Act as the primary focal point for all customer tooling audits and ensure that all processes are in place to safely maintain and store customer owned assets.

 

3)  Monitor and manage the procurement process for capital expenditures.

 

4)  Lead the development of the strategies and objectives of the Indirect Procurement Group.

 

5)  Develop a mutual respect and high level of confidence with the business units as the primary focal point for all indirect procurement.

 

6)  Develop optimization strategy for overhead expenditures.

 

7)  Work with GKN plc on corporate leveraged contracts.

 

8)  Manage indirect GKN buyers and support personnel.

 

9)  Ensure the compliance of the approved sourcing and procurement procedures (i.e. FAR, DFAR, and ISO).  Interface with Contract Compliance personnel to assure consistency of compliance activities.

 

10)  Manage the development and maintenance of the supplier certification process for GKN St. Louis.  Assure compliance to the certification process. 

 

11)  Develop and manage the Small Disadvantaged Business program and Annual Certifications and Representations process for GKN St. Louis.

 

12)  Develop and implement effective communication processes with the supplier community for supply chain customers and suppliers.

 

13)  Provide leadership and direction with emphasis on team building.

 

Education

 

BS/BA in engineering, industrial or operations management required.  MBA or MS in engineering preferred. 

 

Experience

 

Ten or more years of experience in Supply Chain Management or Manufacturing/Enterprise Resource Planning. Must have demonstrated excellent leadership ability in a manufacturing environment.  Must have good analytical skills, an understanding of manufacturing, lean manufacturing principles, and strong customer relation skills. Proficient in MS Office suite.  Must possess excellent communications skills including strong executive-level presentation skills. 

Recognized materials management certification such as American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) preferred.
