Manufacturing Engineering Intern/Co-Op

Manufacturing Engineering Intern/Co-Op Battelle's Production and Field Support (PFS) Product Line, located in Dublin, Ohio, specializes in the production and fielding of complex electro-mechanical systems. PFS is a new and growing product line. We are charged with delivering Battelle technology to customers' world wide. Position Responsibilities: We are looking for an intern (single quarter) or Co-op student (multiple quarters). We are willing to work with the candidates on their class schedule. This position will be a key member of the manufacturing engineering team on business critical projects that support quality and productivity improvements of our products and processes. The co-op/intern will have the opportunity to be a team member and/or lead projects. The expectation is that the co-op/intern will be given as much responsibility as he/she demonstrates the ability to take. Projects will be in the areas of: - Fixture and test equipment design/build - Development/Refinement of Work Instructions - Assembly Process Design/Refinement - Implementation of Lean Mfg Techniques - New product manufacturing introduction Required Qualifications - Should be currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in the area of Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering with an outstanding track record. Should have completed at least 2 years of classes. - Ability to use AutoCAD or similar CAD software to produce detailed drawings. - Strong MS Office Skills; Especially Excel and Access - Basic Understanding of GD&T - Evidence of strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) - Evidence of a high degree of personal motivation and discipline to perform duties with minimal direct daily supervision - Evidence of a high level of independent thinking and resourcefulness to develop and propose solutions to problems. - Ability to get a security clearance - Sole US Citizenship with the eligibility to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Security Clearances. Preferred Qualifications - Ability to provide well organized and thorough summary and detail information on projects or elements of projects for project updates/reviews. - Ability to plan and organize work with minimal supervision and guidance - Ability to interface with various levels of staff from other engineers, to management, to production assemblers. - Ability to apply engineering education (theory) to practical manufacturing challenges. - Ability to successfully prioritize and work multiple tasks concurrently. - Familiarity with Lean manufacturing tools and techniques Affirmative Action/ Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V
