Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Dytran Instruments, Inc., an AS9100 / ISO-17025 certified sensor manufacturer in Chatsworth, CA is looking for an Engineering Manager. Previous management experience in a SENSOR COMPANY is a very big plus, but not an absolute requirement. We are offering a relocation package to the ideal candidate along with an annual bonus percentage based on the financial strength of the company and contribution to meeting company objectives.
Position Summary: Manage all aspects of the Engineering Department to accomplish company objectives and goals. Plan, organize and coordinate a team of engineers and technicians to design, and develop new products while sustaining the existing product line. Sensor technologies include piezoelectric, capacitive, strain-gage, MEMS, wire-wound and other types, along with the associated support electronics and cable assemblies.
Actively manage new product development utilizing project management techniques to ensure milestones are met and goals are achieved. Apply technical abilities to be an active player on the project team. Effectively evaluate existing staff to get maximum performance and value. Actively recruit additional talent as needed. Support customer issues, production issues, quality issues and take appropriate actions for sustaining existing products that are crucial to cash flow.
Reports to Technical Director.
Responsibilities:
· Management of Engineering personnel, including performance evaluations.
· Implement project management strategies, including milestones and design reviews.
· Recruitment of Engineering personnel.
· Assist in defining new products with the Technical Director.
· Implement the release of new products to production.
· Support technology development.
· Maintain ongoing quality improvement efforts.
· Provide leadership and technical support to project team members.
· Work on a multi-departmental basis to accomplish project goals.
· Budget management.

Requirements:
Education: BSEE and/or BSME required. Alternate 4-year minimum science degrees (physics, chemistry) also qualify. Associate level business management education preferred, but not required.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years total experience engineering in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of 5 years as a development engineer and a minimum of 3 years as a manager.

2. Knowledge working with budgets/capital expenditures. 3. Strong background in mathematics, mechanics, physics, and electrical principles. 4. Strong background using test equipment. 5. Communication skills both verbal and written. 6. Computer knowledge, including SolidWorks, Ashlar Vellum, Excel, MS Office. 7. Knowledge of ITAR and Defense Department regulations a plus. 8. Strong knowledge of products, processes, and industry in order to make solid judgments on improvements and priorities.
