Manufacturing Process Engineer (Lean Manufacturing)

To be considered, must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Principle Process Engineer -- Electro Mechanical Supplier Description:
•Extensive knowledge of the fabrication methods and underlying technical basis or Optics, Lasers and Electro-optical systems, both in the visible and the IR wavelengths
•Interface with the Supply Chain in resolving issues regarding performance, specifications, cost, manufacturability, and delivery of key components used in IR/EO product line.
•Make recommendations on potential suppliers based on technical capabilities, costs, facilities, and risk assessments.
•Assist suppliers in meeting cost, quality, cycle time, inventory, and delivery objectives.
•Communicate critical features and translate optical, opto-mechanical and opto-electrical specifications into concise manufacturing and test requirements.
•Assist suppliers in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques including Kanban, Cellular Manufacturing, TQM and DFT concepts.
•Ensure Supplier Manufacturing Process and documentation are robust, supporting product specifications and quoted cost.
•Provide ongoing performance measurement and continuous improvement initiatives for targeted members of the supply base

Requirements:
•BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (MS preferred) plus 8 years of hands-on experience.
•Strong knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical product fabrication assembly and test methods.
•Possess Lean Manufacturing skills including DFT, CI and Kaizen. Green or Black-belt certification is a plus.
•Must be able to travel on short notice, both domestic and internationally, with 25% to 75% of time spent on supplier sites.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
•Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical drawings and specifications to the Supply Chain.
•Working familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 quality systems
