A rapidly growing international marketing and program management company headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metro area seeks a highly qualified candidate to fill a key management position within the company as Marketing Manager for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Systems. The company specializes in technologies, systems, and products for the US Department of Defense. Mistral supports US DoD programs, combat and tactical wheeled vehicle OEMs, US defense system and electronic integrators, and global friends and allies through US Foreign Military Sales programs.
About the Opportunity
This is a highly visible position and represents a new business sector for the Company. The selected candidate will be challenged to build this opportunity into a successful component of the company’s business portfolio. As the key first hire, the selected candidate will be expected to successfully develop and implement the business strategy for this new business sector.

The person in this position will report directly to the General Manager for Business Development and Defense Operations and will work closely with the Senior Vice President for Business Development and Defense Operations.
Responsibilities include:

Manages the entire Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (STRI) business portfolio for Mistral Inc., including all marketing, business development, and sales activities.

Conducts hands-on strategic assessment of new technologies, systems, and products to determine fit and closure of capability gaps within the STRI business portfolio. Advises and recommends to executive management which products, systems, and technologies should be added to Mistral’s STRI business portfolio. Advises management on business plan for each new product, system or technology in terms of relevant market opportunity and internal resources needed to capture business.

Ensures the on time development, delivery, and presentation of the marketing and business development strategy to our international clients. Obtains clients’ buy-in to the overall strategic roadmap developed by Mistral for their products and systems within US DoD STRI area related to combat and tactical wheeled vehicle programs, individual Warfighter simulation and training programs, UAV operator and payload specialist training, UGV operator training, etc.

Develops collateral materials in support of marketing communications for Mistral Defense clients. Works in close coordination with the company’s clients, DoD end-users, vehicle OEMs and their electronic systems integrators, and prime government contractors.

Manages any and all Teaming Agreements, Technical Assistance Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Import/Export Licenses, and Foreign Visitor Requests that are required for the proper execution of the marketing and business plan(s).

Manages the development and implementation of the tactical work plan(s) that support the successful fulfillment of the strategy. On a regular basis, coordinates with the client to ensure customer meetings, presentations, and responses to RFI/RFP/and RFQs, and other activities related to the work plan(s) are completed on time.

Prepares for and participates in trade shows, attend DoD sponsored seminars and symposiums that are related to the Marketing Manager’s specific area of responsibility.

Coordinates with the Marketing Support Office to ensure that organized searches of Defense Department Web sites for new business opportunities/solicitations related to the relevant capability areas for STRI are conducted regularly.

Leads or supports all proposal activities on either a direct (Mistral lead) or indirect (client leads) basis. Prepares competitive assessment, price to win, and key success factors for bid/no bid meetings. Participates in the development and production of proposals, including but not limited to: writing, editing, data gathering, red team reviews, pricing, etc.

Exerts mature leadership and clearly communicates goals and objectives to the company’s clients. Keeps them informed on a regular basis and achieves planned goals and objectives.
Qualifications Required and Desired:
1.
Citizenship: US Citizen capable of receiving and holding a security clearance. (Required)
2.
Education: BS/BA Degree minimum. (Required) MS/MBA(Desirable)
3.
Leadership: Twelve (12) year track record of successful management in government, military, or commercial positions. (Required)
4.
Experience: Seven (7) years experience in at least one of the following areas: defense program management; defense business development, marketing or sales. (Required). Experience with simulator and training devices and instrumentation, training program development, (highly desirable), Direct marketing, program, or project management experience on Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation on US DOD programs strongly preferred, STRI requirements development or procurement of STRI systems for DOD end-user programs( highly desirable). Additional years and multiple experience areas are highly desirable.)

Knowledge: Ability to identify and locate most recent DOD end-user capability gaps and user requirements related to STRI Systems (Required). Must have thorough knowledge of DOD requirements generation and budget process (Required). Must have ability to research and identify funding lines within the DOD Research and Development and procurement budgets.

Planning Skills: Demonstrated ability to prepare a quality plan in one or more areas (business/marketing/sales/program management/strategic or operational level analysis. (Required)
