Material Planner
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. Identifies raw material and component requirements for production from engineering and production specifications and schedules. Coordinates material movement between warehouse and production areas. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed; schedules equipment and personnel; confirms material supply and demands; prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements; coordinates interdepartmental activity with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Inventory Control, Traffic, and Contract Administration; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders; analyzes inventory usage, scrap and shrinkage, and coordinates any appropriate action. Assists management in resolving problems concerning over shipments, shortages, engineering changes and cancellation of orders. Develops and maintains strong supplier relationships, negotiates terms and prepares contract documents with suppliers, issues requests for proposals/quotes. Evaluates and selects best value supplier, places purchase orders and change orders, follows up with suppliers to meet delivery dates and obtains competitive quotations to assure financial stability. Follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and five years of related experience. MRP/ERP knowledge required. CPM, CPIM and green belt certification desired. Good Microsoft skills.

LOCATION: Hawthorne, CA
PAY RATE: $25.00-$30.00 per hr
DURATION: 6 months
