Materials Manager

The SPS Technologies Fasteners Division of Precision Castparts Corporation is an industry leader in the manufacture of high quality specialty fasteners, assemblies and precision components for critical aerospace applications. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Manager at our Santa Ana, CA manufacturing facility:

 

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing and directing Purchasing, Planning, Tool Room, Tool Stores, Raw Material Stores and Processing, to assure maximum customer service and company profit.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Responsible for meeting established shipping forecasts, customer delivery requirements and acceptable past due levels, through control of the flow of materials, tools and product.

 

Evaluates written data such as job orders, product specifications and operations sheets, parts and materials inventory lists, and machine and worker production rates, to establish efficient allocation and scheduling of parts, materials, machines, and sequences of operations and workflow.

 

Confers with production personnel to resolve problems affecting production schedules.

 

Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.

 

Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

 

Establishes annual department budgets, analyzes reports, and initiates corrective action on variances.

 

Performs such other duties as may be assigned to fulfill position and division objectives.

 

  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages master schedulers (one of which supervises support staff), planner/buyers (two of which supervise employees in tool and material functions), MRO buyer and a supervisor who supervise employees in the Shipping/Receiving Department.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Aerospace experience preferred but would accept metals manufacturing experience. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Including experience with MRP back-office systems. Also to be familiar with all aspects of IT and interface across the plant. A plus to have experience with Sales and Operating planning process; Demand management and capacity planning.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Apics Certification a plus
