Mechanical Designer/Detailer

Defense & Security Systems:Sensis Defense & Security Systems division increases tactical capabilities through advanced radar detection and surveillance integration products. Customers include the worlds militaries as well as system integrators. Sensis Corporation's radar team has several openings for mechanical designers to help design and build the next generation air defense radars to support our United States military customers. The positions will require utilizing SolidWorks 3-D modeling tools to design and detail mechanical actuators, mechanisms, machined and formed components, composite structures, electronic packages, and radar system assemblies. The mechanical designers will be responsible for the development of mechanical designs by the creation of 3D CAD models from engineering sketches. These models will be turned into part and assembly drawings to be used for production. The ideal candidates will have experience in the design, documentation, and build of complex mechanical assemblies and would work closely with senior engineering and manufacturing personnel to complete and release design documentation into the configuration management system. These positions will be located in our Syracuse, NY offices. Education Required:Associates degree in mechanical technology or equivalent with at least 5-8 years experience in a production environment. Required Skills:-Solid knowledge of fabrication practices, i.e., sheetmetal, machining, welding, and mechanical fastening.-Knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly practices.-Demonstrated ability to create part fabrication drawings conforming to industry standard drafting practices.-Must have the ability to create detailed assembly drawings using 3-D CAD.-Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.-Experience with build to print subcontractor supervision and following.-Applicant must be team-orientated, strive for customer satisfaction, and demonstrate the willingness and initiative to meet objective schedule goals.-Proficiency using Microsoft Office required.-Must have 5+ years experience using 3-D CAD software in a production environment (Solidworks preferred).Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance.
