Must have US Citizenship Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering classification College new grads are encouraged to apply Prefer minimum of five years experience in Shuttle or ISS ECLS engineering environment, particularly relevant experience in NASA Mission Operations Directorate (MOD) experience and/or manned space vehicle ECLS engineering Ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationship by understanding customer circumstances, problems, expectations and needs Candidate must have able to attain a NASA JSC/MER access badge and become certified as a MERLIN console operator Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, flexibility, adaptability and customer focus required Strong organizational, presentation, communication, and technical writing skills; ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner to the customer and other engineering teams a must Occasional shift work, overtime and travel to KSC, other customer or subcontractor sites, in coordination and integration of related topics.  Proficiency in MS Office applications, with emphasis in Word, Excel, PowerPoint Ability to work individually and in a team environment; self-starter and comfortable working in fast-paced and multitasking setting Responsibilities: Support daily operations in the MER. Responsible for Mission Evaluation Review (MER) Environmental Control and Life Support (ECLS) real-time console support during quiescent and joint ops. Requires understanding of data displays, portable computer computing routines, IFIs, CHITs and PRACAs, interaction with MER Managers and other subsystem consoles as well as MOD front-room and back-room processes Assist in the integration and resolution of interface issues between Shuttle and International Space Station (ISS). The resolution of technical issues may require leading ECLS team effort in Anomaly Resolution Team (ART) meetings or Failure Investigation team (FIT) meetings, participation and presentation to the Joint Technical Working Group, Station Management review boards, Shuttle Operations Review boards and International Partners, as required Periodically required to function as shift-lead and flight-lead for Shuttle flight missions to ISS for the MERLIN console For non-console work-time some ECLS hardware responsibilities may be assigned such as  Working with the hardware provider to understand component performance and operating limits Taking responsibility of hardware anomalies and issues  Working to resolve issues and close IFIs and PRACAs assigned to that hardware Conform and support all NASA, JSC, & MEI safety requirements and procedures May require other duties as assigned
