Mechanical Engineer IV
The GESS II contract is currently has several opportunities exist on a number of programs utilizing the skills of a mechanical engineer. This immediate need requires the applicant to have experience with space flight payload hardware. The position requires the packaging of a NASA space flight communication experiment. The engineer will work in a team environment to design and analyze designs to verify they meet the customer's requirements. Analysis and design of mechanical hardware used for the spaceflight and aerospace research. Knowledge and experience with Pro/ENGINEER and /or AutoCAD modeling software is required. Understanding of thermal, fluid and structural analysis is needed to fully integrate the design into the payload. Work with project team and focus on objectives to meet project milestones. Engineer will be responsible to review drawings and generate engineering analysis reports showing the design meets all applicable customer requirements. Prepare verification and validation tests and reports. Works well with others and handles day-to-day situations with an acceptable, reasonable approach. Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and assemblies. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products and mechanisms required to support Space Flight Payload development hardware May be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products. Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering and 5-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with space flight hardware development and standard GRC practices, and procedures is a plus. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Masters degree is a plus. Work Environment and Physical Demands Office environment or test facility with no special demands. Travel may be required. EOE www.asrc.com
