Model/Simulation Analyst/Engineer/ Senior Professional Staff I/ SPS II Description:1. Provide analysis and technical assistance for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the area of systems engineering modeling and simulation (M&S) capability development. This effort will support the creation of an integrated analysis of alternatives simulation toolset to support decision-making by DHS management and the Customs and Border Patrol office.2. Exercise M&S tools and/or conduct assessment of models and simulations for various sponsors, including the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV), the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and DHS. Includes set up / design of scenarios for the simulations using the appropriate component attributes. Design scripts as appropriate to support analysis requirements. Run simulations for analysis, extract and analyze the results.3. Interact with sponsors and contractor organizations in performance of analytical M&S and verification, validation and accreditation (VV&A) tasks. Current group sponsors include the Defense Modeling and Simulation Coordination Office (M&S CO), CNO Assessments Division (OPNAV N81), Joint Forces Command (JFCOM), National Security Agency (NSA), Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the Navy DDG 1000 program officeQualifications:Required: B.S. or M.S. in operations research, computer science, physics, or engineering field. General understanding of modeling and simulation concepts. Experience with defense / homeland security concepts and/or systems. A minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience. Demonstrated experience working as a member of a technical team.Desired: Working understanding of concept and requirements definition, operational and system architecture analysis, warfare / homeland security modeling and simulation, and effectiveness analysis. Familiarity with military mission/campaign performance/effectiveness simulations. Experience in performing VV&A on simulations/models. Experience in performing systems analysis on complex systems. Understanding and use of the High Level Architecture (HLA) for simulation interoperability.
