Nortel Telecom Engineer

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
APEX Systems Inc. is looking for qualified candidates to provide engineering, installation and operational support for some of the largest VoIP deployments in the nation. APEX is currently seeking skilled VoIP and system engineers in Kansas City, MO, for a large scale VoIP deployment that have current operational experience in a Nortel environment.

Candidate will work as part of the Network Operations team on a very large VoIP network. As part of that team, the candidate will perform maintenance of network VoIP elements which includes but is not limited to general configuration management, patch deployment, SW upgrades, VoIP network element configuration as required for moves and adds and changes, and problem isolation and troubleshooting/resolution as required.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Position requires knowledge of configuration options and parameters on Nortel products. The Nortel systems include CS1000, MPS 500 and 1000, Call Pilot Reporter, Contact Center Manager Server, Symposium Call Center Server. NCSS, NCSE or NCDE Nortel Certifications in Telephony Manager, Element Manager, CS 1000, MPS 500 & 1000, Audiocodes Mediant 2000 SIP gateway, Call Pilot Reporter, Contact Center Manager Server or Symposium Call Center Server preferred.

 

Candidate would be responsible for installation and configuration of Nortel Communication Server 1000 and VoIP phone solutions at customer sites.  Typical activities would include site surveys, call plan / data collection, site installation, site acceptance testing and as-built documentation production.  Requires working closely and effectively with remote installation support teams to ensure installation and testing is completed within scheduled timeframe and with high quality.  Perform Moves, Adds &  Changes (MACS) as required.  Ensure customer satisfaction by interacting professionally and effectively with all customers, both internal and external.

· Digital and VoIP configuration and provisioning experience

· At least two years of installation, troubleshooting and analysis skills

· Experience correcting problems in complex voice networks (preferably including VoIP)

· Ability to work on own with discretion and work with limited supervision

· Excellent customer service skills

· Ability to support 85% travel
