This engineering position is responsible for optical design, analysis and simulation; develop concepts and solutions to customer requirements; perform ray traces, tolerance analysis, optical system optimization, for IR and metal optical components, assemblies and systems. A lead contributor on a multi-disciplinary team in the development and fabrication of optics at the component and subsystem level.

 

Responsibilities:  As the Optical Engineer, you will design IR components, assemblies and systems for standard products and customers optical requirements. Serve as the technical expert for assigned projects for precision optical design, analysis and simulation, develop innovative concepts and solutions for complex optical components and systems. Ability and desire to assume functional management responsibilities.

 

Requirements: Degree in Optical Engineering with strong core courses in the fundamentals.7-10 years related design experience for precision optical systems and assemblies.Proficiency with CODE V and/or ZEEMAX design tools.Excellent people skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to apply basic principals of optical engineering to formulate new concepts and solutions in product development for IR and metal component and assembly applications.Understanding of tolerancing optical components and systems for manufacturing methods and error budget allocations.Willingness and ability to perform “hands-on” technical work in a laboratory environment involving metrology, optical alignment, testing and data collection.Organized, with strong technical and computer skills. (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)Good oral and written communications skills and the ability to provide clear, concise technical presentations.Must be willing and able to travel domestically and/or internationally as required to meet business or customer objectives. (Up to 10% travel is required)US Citizenship is required.
