Other Engineer III (Radio Integration)

The GESS II contract is currently seeking  individuals work with little supervision and only general direction in performing highly complex assignments related to investigating and solving complex system integration issues. Assignments require comprehensive, specialized knowledge of both spaceflight systems integration and electrical design engineering areas and technical field(s) related to assigned tasks. Errors can cause substantial expense, delay, and inefficiency. Judgment and creativity are exercised regularly in problem-solving and in providing proper advice and recommendations. This position requires an integration engineer to support the integration of multiple software defined radios into an International Space Station Communications experiment payload. The incumbent will work directly with the radio manufacturer, and coordinate all verification and validation activities. Some travel is occasionally required for reviews and test witnessing. The applicant shall have familiarity with NASA and ISS system engineering activities. The applicant shall have familiarity with space flight hardware. Works well with others and handles day-to-day situations with an acceptable, reasonable approach. Furnish documentation deliverables in accordance with applicable project plans. This includes monthly reports, applicable project documentation, presentation material, support documentation for closure of any RFA's generated.  Participate in regularly scheduled meeting with NASA personnel and contractors. Systems Engineering tools and documentation processes. Experience in providing Integration support and coordination for Space Flight Hardware payloads in support for Exploration and space flight projects conducted at the NASA Glenn Research Center. Ability to interact with diversified project personnel from various organizations within NASA and external vendors. Experience in leading multidisciplinary technical teams to produce space flight hardware. Experience in interfacing with external stakeholders on space flight hardware projects. Ability to communicate project requirements, risks, and expectations both orally and in written format.   Work Environment and Physical Demands Office environment or test facility with no special demands.
